The Darkness

The Darkness

A Poem by 747
"

In the dark and alone, are you... really?

"

It creeps

                And crawls

It creaks

                And sprawls

It seeps

                And falls

When it does

                All beware

Without cause

                Rampant terror

When panic gnaws

                What’s in there?

Rigid in fight

                Wishing for flight

Close the curtains

                It watches, you’re certain

Shudder and shake

                With sundown, no escape

Did you lock the door? Yes? Are you sure?

What was that noise? You’re supposed to be alone here.

Be careful, be quiet! The darkness might hear…

You don’t know what’s lurking behind you in here

My goodness, what a successfully dark and frightening post! The black background with the white innocent letters is ideally used. The way your words are laid make their closeness suggest phrases, feelings, happenings, squeezing into what could be the steps of a conspiracy.

Fine writing..but - not quite appropriate reading prior to turning of nightlights!
