That Shift In The Wind

That Shift In The Wind

A Poem by ferousfinite

That Shift In The Wind
Standing on a hill
overlooking my past
to my left
overlooking my future
to the right
Violently thrown to a fro
and in this way
I live
Now the sun in my face
and a small comfort
in my heart
I know that she wanted more
and my needs just a bore
now not as one no more
I am free to to lose on my own
so says the mess I'm in here shown
What shall I do
and oh the options
what to do
Now stepping out of this old life
and into the new and unknown
I am afraid
But God as my witness
shall I not fail
an will no mercy will death avail
I am strong on the ground unknown
and to the land, this new land, I will roam!

I particularly like the repetition effect given in the first stanza. It really captures the reader.
Love the poem. It is well written and finishes on a beautiful tone.

All of us find ourselves one day or another changing and hoping the new direction is for the better. You have described the pain and the reason. I wish you benign roaming. :)
