Dazed and Dissociative During the Day

Dazed and Dissociative During the Day

A Poem by shockandawe

Trying to pay attention
Attempting to portray some learning retention
I'm staring right at the teacher
But not hearing a word she says
In my own thoughts, which is not where I want to be
It's a struggle for me
Even after drinking a cup of coffee
To stay here on earth properly
The teacher calls me out
She makes me demonstrate for the class
Afterward, I ask
How did you know I was not on task?
She says "Do you really wanna know why?"
"Yes", I mumble
"You're like that rolling stones song- The Girl With the Faraway Eyes"

Great poem! I think if you use that song as the title it could really have a good ring to it - "The girl with the Faraway Eyes".......
Daydreaming gets us into trouble, though often it is worth it....;)
