Do You Wonder?

Do You Wonder?

A Poem by Richard McLin
"

A poem about trying to find out if those that hurt you realize that they do.

"
Do you ever wonder?

Do my words affect others?

Look into my eyes while you speak the words that wound me.

Do you ever wonder?

Do my actions affect others?

Look into my face as you come home late smelling like the man you're lying about.

Do you ever wonder?

Do I affect others?

Yes, yes you do...

Richard, clever use of rhetorical questions to make a good point. For me the takeaway is clear. These people (and we, if we're being fair) know our words and behavior affect others... because theirs affect us. Of course, we often think of ourselves first, and the most selfish among us do it with reckless disregard for all others. Well said and crafted here, sir.

You already said about all that needs to be said. I think you've captured a universal sentiment.

Easily one of my favorites of yours.

Unfortunately, most people do not realize that. the nature to self destruct is always stronger than the nature to want to hurt others.

Selfishness is a tricky b*****d!

That is very true, thank you very much for the review.
i think we all wonder. we're either oblivious or being selfish with blinders on. the line breaks are effective, adding power to your questions as you pose them. cheating and lying are the ultimate hurts. should think before we speak or act.

Sometime people don't realize that their words and actions can cause injury or heal, and others sometimes are aware but just do it anyway. Your poetry is your strongest ability. Good job!

Thank you, that's very nice of you. I'm really glad you liked it.
Oh yes.... words can heal or harm...people who lie will recieve everything they have given out.. we need to think more about others and less about ourselves.. sometimes hard and lonely but worth it in the end - love it .
