The old woman

The old woman

A Poem by Jason

Secret scars covered with skin,
Dry, patchy, scaly and thin,
Frail to that of this harsh weather,
Not soften so, to hold this feather,

Nightmares true, bleeds out through pores;
Sweat now blood, wrinkles now sores,
Aching age is altered, angered and anile,
Misery and sadness now follows a smile;

Once drunk in the pool of youth,
Forgotten how, these dreams were truth,
Wisdom now broad, and beauty, not restored,
Her stance before me, is fragile, feeble-
And well-endured

Great imagery here Jason throughout as you have depicted perfectly the aging process...It's sad...we all have to go through it. I want to be young forever, but such is life. Looking forward to the new body. :-) Carole

Inner scars dwelling inside, fragility, wisdom through the years - (just a few thoughts that came into my mind while reading this). You bring about a good point, even though she is elderly, she still has strength. Nice write Jason!

It sheds a truthful light on aging. Beautifully written.

This was beautiful. I feel sympathy for this woman, but then again I do not. You make it sound like she had a wonderful youth and for that I am greatful. This is beautiful.

I'm so sorry...my tears fall...your words touch my heart on so many levels.

So many have no respect for the elderly...they are 'tossed aside' because they have traveled their journey.
"Once drunk in the pool of youth, forgotten how, these dreams were truth"
They LIVED...still do...their knowledge is greater...they have experienced life and we have much to learn from them.
"Her stance...fragile, feeble....well endured" The magnificence of the elderly; how some fight and refuse to give in; showing us their true character and how they lived!!!

Your words have touched my heart so.

Celia
