Beckon Lady Spring

Beckon Lady Spring

A Poem by James Paulin

Seductress of seasons restores life once more

Warm sunshine and zephyrs arise to the fore

The old mans hand eases a tight death grip

Snows retreat as Mother Earth does a flip

Bird, bug and beast breathe easy in fresh air

Awake all creatures! The weathers turned fair!

Flowering buds burst forth in many a hue

Lore of fairies and nymphs are recalled anew

Crocus greets hyacinth emerging with pride

Kites, bikes and balls follow calls of swings and slide

Honeybees and butterflies in time appear

Newborns sing choruses if lent an ear

Brush, pen and score artistically applied

Express emotions your presence has revived

Kiss with refresh, O vernal maiden of light

Tend to spirits wounded by winter’s harsh bite.

I love the imagery, especially in the first stanza, where the old man Jack Frost has no options but to surrender Earth to spring, taking over powerfully.
I can see Earth shaking of the snow before my inner eye.
Beautiful presentation of this process as the poem continues, it gives the change of season a fast pace, as if the plants and creatures ran over the unexpecting winter and chased him away, to have any damage done attended to and mended, too.
A poem as beautiful as the spring presented!

This was evocative in a way that I never would have imagined you were the author! You consistently rank in the tournament, when theoretically you should only have a 30% chance of doing so, meaning you clearly in my opinion have a lot of artistic merit to your work.

This piece was so bursting with life I had trouble analyzing it and giving it a number, really well done.

The rhythm of your poem matches the sights I see, starting slowly in the first verse as spring starts to awaken, and then quickens with excitement as the "flowers burst forth" and nature begins to sing, and Spring, the "Seductress of seasons" (love that phrase!) heals the wounds of winter. Your poems have a musical quality to them that I greatly enjoy.

This is quite lovely! As I see the sun shining outside and trees dripping with freshly melting snow, I am heartened to know that Spring as you've described it will surely be coming soon!

Beautiful Spring imagery and a lovely rhyme and flow in this piece. You have captured the very essence of Spring and gave me a longing for it to come soon. Well done!

This is a breathtaking piece! I had to pause and slowly read through again, to fully appreciate all the beautiful imagry. It was watching each action happen, a softly orchestrated masterpiece!

Thank you for sharing something so beautiful!
