on the cob

on the cob

A Poem by James Paulin

picked in dews as morns arrive

fresh, full ripe in rows aligned

gold, white, or as both comply

pride of veggies oft maligned

soak ‘em in salt water

to bake first wrap ‘em in foil

grill ‘em whole to steam hotter

remove husks with silk to boil

sweetness, naturally so

coat butter with salt to taste

bite quickly, teeth on the go

umm’s ensure none goes to waste

my fave veggie! well written- you expressions capture the fun of this vegetable. And is is fun to grow, to harvest, to munch on raw, and to cook in many ways.

You said it, James. There's not much in this world more scrumptous than fresh buttered corn on the cob!
