homecoming

homecoming

A Poem by flash
"

up to you

"

the blast

the rush

that overtook me

seemed awash

in things mistaken

i could see those

that stand before me

shaking with admiration

the fear

the guilt

that was inside me

was in tune with

those that were before me

and it seemed as though

i knew what they tried to tell me

contrary to all their reasons

their reasons seemed so clear to me

stinging in my watery eyes

the reason i should not be here

the fact

the real

that i am standing

on this ground

longing

only for home

it seems

i must stick it all the way through

no matter what they think of me

im sticking to my childhood lies

and doing what i think they want me to

years ago i decided not to live up to "their" expectations, but only my own...i can live with that more easily...and making decisions physically, mentally and morally based on what i feel i should do???

lots easier...to hell with them if they have a problem with it...i am going to be me.

good poem.

I may also be disillusioned to find out that all the things that I have been told to me were just exaggerations. And it is just sad that the poetic persona must have to embrace such lies in order to gratify those who have so much expectations on him. Quite unfair. But who says that life is fair? In reality, we just have to make the best of our choices.
