In The Name of God

In The Name of God

What ever happened to separation of church and state?

Since when did the church become a lobbyist group?

I feel like every religion

is not only trying to tell me

how to live my life

but now they are trying

to make me live my life

their way by influencing

our national laws

I never remember

Jesus, or Jacob

or Adam or Moses

going to the senate

to get people to pray

or tithe or serve God in anyway

no it has always been

our personal choice

I remember

those religious

pro-life people

blocking doctors’ offices

who provided abortions

to mothers who wanted it

and a few of them even

resorted to violence

to prevent someone from making

their personal decision

to abort their pregnancy

one man even killed the doctor

he said, he did it

in the name of God….

in the name of God….

My God what God

does he serve?

and if abortion is murder

then what he did is what?

Divine Right?

is that how a Christian leads

by the sword instead of by love?

I have made new friends

with people who were

a part of organized religions

and when they read one of my

erotic flows

they called me lost

a sinner

and the devil

they didn’t know s**t

about me to judge me

after reading one poem

that I wrote

and they damned my soul

to hell for eternity?

I thought the good book

said that only God

can Judge us

and no man knows

another man’s heart

so why do people

assume they can

tell you that

you’re going to hell?

I feel like

religion in America

is just a safe haven for people

to put on their good clothes

and fake faces

so they can pretend to be pure

for one day out of the week

even though the other six days

they are doing drugs,

having ungodly sex

raping, lying, cheating,

stealing and even killing

just like anyone else

who lives in this world

for we all are filthy rags

In God’s eyes

it takes a thief

to catch a thief

what you see

in another

is also in you

or you wouldn’t see

it in the first place

calling someone a sinner

makes you a sinner

point one finger at me

and your other four fingers

are pointed at you

see truth be told

organized religion

is the problem

because the true church of God

lives in us

not in the bricks and stones

not in the wood and collection plates

not in the pastor or minister

and damn sure not the pope

if you ever doubt

just follow the money

if you go to church

watch that collection plate

go around and around

And around and around

And around one more time

watch the cars

and fancy clothes

everyone has

then think….

if you get on your knees in

your own home and prayed

how much does that cost?

what clothes do you have to wear?

think about how personal you

could be with God

if you had

a one on one

relationship with him

imagine if you fellowshipped with others

who had this personal relationship

outside of the building that cost money

and the politics that take place there

just imagine if God meant to know you

for who you are without going through

another person

now I ask if this could be

would that man have killed that doctor

in the name of God?

This is so deep and so moving and the points in it are the main reasson I converted my religion away from Christianity to Wicca where there was not nearly as much hatred yet a pentacle is considered the sign of the devil and not the symbol of the goddess. -sigh- Sorry I ranted again. This is beautiful sweetheart.
