The Creek

this is about a place where i grew up, it was where i went to get away from everything.

crystal water

caresses a muddy shore

sunlight slips through

the emerald screen

breath in quiet

exhale peace

birds chatter in the haven above

the creek gurgles below

sun soaked minds grow heavy

the outside world fades

the struggle gone

a smile dances on your lips

sleep consumes

This is an awesome poem! I came away from it with a real sense of peace and solitude. You give your reader just enough information to convey your point. You involve all the senses—I could hear the birds and the water, I could feel the warm air and the cool ground, and I could see the muddy bank and the green canape of trees. And then the memory of someone's smile brought it all home with a very personal touch. I'll be sure to read more!
