In A Time

In A Time

A Poem by Frieda P
"

values, life lessos & simple pleasures

"
In a world that doesn't know right from wrong

in a place of unrest where transgressions rank

in a time of latchkey kids with automated techno eyes

how will we teach our children, essence of blueberry pie

baseball cards and wild flowers growing random in march

I tried to teach my children right from wrong. The kids of today don't have concern for the future. Something had happen. World had change. Great dreams are rarely spoke. I hope my child have the chance to have fun. Learn love and travel. It is a scary world we left for our kids. Thank you for the excellent poetry.

This is nicely written. It's one of my pet peeves but I assumed that it was a generational thing. It says it all in 5 lines.

we are all attached to this, in the world we are living with all technological revolution from mobiles, ipads, computers, games...i think the role of family is fading. kids are not belonging to parents as it was before. even sometimes kids feel their parents are old fashion compared with what they know in technology. it is really hard task to make good education to such artificial technological generation..

I fear they are lost. I suppose the same things were said about our generation too ... they were right. Well done. Sad.

Thanks Ed, so if each generation gets worse, what hope do we have?

Humm... was this a rhetorical question or a test of my pessimism?

Thinking out loud I guess ;)
why, do you have a good answer?
Oh, very sweet with a strong message. It's very questionable as to whether societies latest conventions for raising kids are improving or deteriorating. I say the latter. The are tomorrow but need to grounded in yesterday. Great write Freida.

I think not, I'm hopeful but realistic...we seldom go back to the way it was.

Wow you said it all in those few lines... how can kids learn about the pleasures of simple things or learn what hard word is about when everything is made to be quick and easy... that is why today there is no loyalty, kids get in the habit of enjoying something and moving on to the next fad.

Excellent poem. You're so good at making the reader think. The world has certainly changed. It's become more technically proficient but at a cost. Children's conversations consist of pushing buttons now more than ever. 50 years ago that that would have been a consideration for people with physical ailments. Great writing.

I think this says more about parents than children. My 8 year old daughter doesn't even have a television in her room, she doesn't have her own computer, she doesn't have an ipod or iphone or ianything...you know what she has? One hell of an imagination and a love for reading. Books. Not a kindle ;-) Thanks so much for posting Ms. P...
