Sad Butterfly Tears

Sad Butterfly Tears

A Story by Frieda P

An orphan of love, a victim of circumstance
she stood upon the ridge of a precipice
leaning over the edge wondering if she'd find peace there
she felt nothing but a mighty wind calling her name
             promising eternal peace ever after
she shut her eyes and the sight took her breath away
just then, a lovely butterfly perched upon her shoulder to say...

'you are not done, I'd given up hope too,
but a mere lowly caterpillar, fuzzy without a clue,
look at me now, I'm magnificent, some decisions
are made for us, other's we have control over,
you too can find your heart's calling and desire'

She opened her eyes to feel the sunrise on her frown
her tears dried up and she thought if given half the chance

I could fly too, she took the leap,

... the butterfly's message had failed in a very tragic way,
                                          ~she cried real butterfly tears

If there's any kind of moral here it's surely, we can try our damned best, but we can't save everyone. Sad, yet true.

I totally agree with the moral lesson and if you will alow me to say that is all true but they have to be willing or able for some are not willing and some are not even able. Love conquers all at the end and I hope we all find inner piece... An excellent subject and write kind lady...:)

What a delightful review, thanks so much IW!
I thought this was amazing. An excellent use of words and adjectives, as well as details. Also, the moral was marvelous and the genre is so obviously tragic. Wonderful, piece, keep it up!

You shouldn't outright state the moral.. Takes the fun outta things, lol.
Ah, but I love it nonetheless.~

This is true. Humans, no matter how full of light and life and hope they be - can't fly - at least not in the physical sense like a butterfly. This is a deep one and a tragic lesson many of us learn the hard way.

I think I know I can't fly, thanks Mark....
WHEW what an emotional piece... we have to realize that sometimes we cannot save everyone, but we can honor their memory by living on with their memory in our heart.

That's about all we're left with Dale, thanks so much for your kindness my friend.
This so feels like ti is about you. We all learn lessons as we go.We cant save everyone. But even one is better than none.If we can save ourselves that is sometimes enough

Always a struggle in the aftermath, thanks for your thoughts here Tate.
Wow, this made my heart bleed. It was sooo emotional and extremely sad. I couldn't imagine losing someone like this, I can't imagine how hard it is for you, but you're an amazing strong woman, with some friends on here that are here for you, if you need to talk or vent at, (me and others)

Sweet title, this was really touching.
