~When You Leapt

~When You Leapt

A Poem by Frieda P

Your butterfly wings twisted
                    by fate & obscurity
               plummeting into the grand abyss
you took my heart with you when you leapt
hanging by a thread was no way to go
left behind memories, secrets and pain
now divided by death I can't help but wonder
was there peace in your decision to fall?

I think anyone who has had a loved one take their own life asked such questions... you will go crazy living with them unanswered, but you need to find peace by keeping them alive in your heart.

Have you ever heard "A Tout Le Monde" by Megadeth... if not check it out.

The poem reflect that feeling of loss and bafflement. I too lost a family member through suicide. My stepdad took his life when my mother died. He couldn't live with the loss. I still wonder today at the reasons why. I had spoken to him the day before with little warning of his plans.
Your poem does indeed, touch me and gives comfort too. Thanks.

Sigh, one can only hope, still I wish she was still her, selfish perhaps.

Never selfish. Factual. We miss loved ones that have passed over.

Your emotions are raw in this write, as always. A great job! There is questions in your write that I'm sure we all ask ourselves everyday. It's a sad touching write, sorry for your loss.

Thank you MIsillusions, muchly appreciate your visit & kind words.
Such an honest write, full of raw emotion. Hard to read knowing the heartache and pain, and sense of wonder you deal with daily. So many questions, so few answers. Writing from such a deep place within takes great strength and courage, for that I applaud you my friend. You may never get the answers you need, but may you always be comforted in your sweet memories and wonderful times you two shared together. Much love to you always, my friend.

Wonderful way to symbolize the ties that you just can't snip; for the idea of pain upon hitting the floor beneath would be too much to bear..

Some threads are eternal, thanks Tai....
This almost brought tears to my ears. The imagery and the description created a picture of such darkness and heartache...Although I agree with the final line...you always wonder.

Grazie Mille PaperMush.
A amazing poem. You went deep into many things. We never know what the ending will be? Life is chance. We can fall or swim in happiness. Thank you for the excellent poetry.

Touching write. I have come back to WC after a long break and I just had to read your work and as always I'm glad i did. I don't think questions related to suicide can ever be answered no matter how hard we try and the impact it has on the people left behind is heavy. Very nice write, touching!

Reason obscured not by a thin veil as some might think but by the grand divide. Suicide takes with it so much more than life, and what it leaves is heavy. None so heavy as the pressing or, depressing questions unanswered. This is a tear jerker Frieda.
