~The Last Time I Danced

~The Last Time I Danced

A Poem by Frieda P

Last time I saw your face I danced in your essence
the tempo deliberate and hauntingly alluring
you provided the rhythm for my wanton heart
your Grandioso sent me over the moon,
            then crashing back to earth
I felt it'd be our last tango,
          yet, you expressed devotion
I fell into your staccato without missing a beat
till I realized you'd always be a cappella
with no reason or rhyme for your deceptive cadence
there'd be no encore, you were falsetto in disguise
Now, I dance alone on a dark moon with no harmony
no Maestro to entice an impromptu interlude
sad violin music the only melody that tunes my soul
still, a free spin above the kick of devils symphony

A beautiful rendition of this song of lost love Frieda. Indeed it may feel like only a "kick above a devils symphony". Your use of melodic identifiers was masterfully done. Great stuff.

What a vivid and sensuous poem -- and very sad. Dancing is such a great metaphor for life. Well-done.

Thanks Coyote, always a lovely review from you, muchly appreciated.
You know I love dancing, and this is a spectacular write, Frifri - I haven't dance in over six months now! :-O But this was just what I needed to read tonight, it was amazing. You play the music and we will all follow you, and next thing you know you'll have a whole dance floor of dancing girls and guys. :P

This poem speaks to me the heart of the person I have come to know behind the name of this author.
A woman who remains... and in her remaining moments be they measured many or few, she is resolved to dance... Her energy beguiling the sadness of the music in her life. Her delicate refined movements balanced with the defiant steps and her desperate kicks all within the dance of the life she writes into the pages of time like a precious poem penned with tears, blood and sweat, then sealed with a kiss...

You moved me and the earth stands still...

So sweet of you to say love...thanks.
Wanting another is our greatest blessing and it is often our greatest curse; perhaps even more curse than blessing. Sadness and realization. A very good work.
