Objective Phantasy, futile at best...

Objective Phantasy, futile at best...

A Poem by Frieda P

The dust on the mirror nicely covers
a multitude of secrets       uncovered
intricate weavings of life entanglements,
look beyond the haze of incredibility
true reflections are merely presumptuous
perception lost in translation

Soul cannot be speculated,
reverie's contemplations,
are merely a kaleidoscopic distortion
unless you see the absolute intent
treading in footprints of object's image
of poetry's  authentic reality

Only kindred spirits in actuality
can see their own substantive expression
in the magnitude of recollections,
on the surface it's all fancy conjecture
beyond the deliberation
Is where truth in absoluteness lies,
a mere peer with the eyes
can prove virulent, futile at best

I like the subtle touch of spelling fantasy the way you have...I also like the (ironic?) idea of the mirror's dust "nicely" covering its secrets...this first stanza just blew me away, especially the last two lines, which were beautifully put, and went on to set the stage for the rest of the piece, which is a compelling study of those secrets referred to earlier...all in all, a very philosophical piece...love this one Mrs.R :)

It's all good, but I'm crazy about the last stanza!

As always, Frieda, so very wonderfully put. In the end, what we see in every day thing's, but also in exquisite things such as poetry, is simply a reflection of who we are. Our thoughts are that "mirror nicely covered in dust" which represents our souls. Excellent piece of poetry! I expected nothing less from such an incredible poet such as yourself, after all. :)

Ahh, the mirror and the tales it might lead us to believe. The deepest part of ourselves, grinding with regret and sorrow, cannot be seen in a mirror. Perhaps that part of ourselves can only be mirrored by the souls of others like us. All our lives we walk by the mirror, and we always sneak a peek; all our lives the mirror gets dustier and dustier, softening the edges, feeding our fantasies of life; then one day some smart a*s comes by with the Windex and when we walk by the mirror, we are appalled by what we see. The inexorable ravages of life, fantasies notwithstanding, become as real as the gravity that has kept us planted on earth. That's when we understand that we have given mirrors more importance than they deserve.

This is a great metaphorical piece, Frieda - I loved it.

This is a great write, and by my favourite poetess, too ;-) Don't get much better than that. Stunning piece.

Ah indeed Frieda, the distorted view in the mirror is no reflection of the inner-self, dig a little deeper through the lines of the poets manuscript and there you'll find the real person your searching for !

Intellectually stimulating as ever Frieda P !

WOW.
Wise words, Frieda

Dust collecting on mirrors, a metaphor for buried secrets becoming more muddled and unknown as time passes, a kaleidoscope of moments or aspects or traits that string together to form one one concept, but the evidence isn't apparent nor consistent enough to formulate an actual verdict.. I quite enjoyed the thought of this, it had a surreal feel to it.

Is any reflection ever truer than that of a poet's or ever more further from the truth than that of a poet ~ maybe the secret lies midway ~ beautiful work love xx

Mirror mirror on the wall
Do you tell the truth at all?

on the surface it's all fancy conjecture
beyond the deliberation
Is where truth in absoluteness lies,
a mere peer with the eyes
can prove virulent, futile at best

I think not. Great metaphorical piece from you.
