drank the poetic kool-aid

drank the poetic kool-aid

A Poem by Frieda P
"

_random silly scribble_

"
Drank from the poetic kool-aid well
punch drunk crazy on 100 proof metaphors
cheesy cracker sonnets & olive stuffed similes
jumped over a moon's haiku, hungover of verbiage
strange clouds bump and grind pouring fireflies
   bathed in coffee's senryuous brevity
dirty birds yakking in your head,
jealous guy lost control in burnt out tunes,
muse madness in words addictive rhythms
like jackrabbits getting it on big time,
rocking socks off dancin' on chandeliers,
   sign'd on the dott'd line for apostrophe's rhym'd rehab
there ain't no cure for what ails the obsess'd poet

I knew I was going to love this one, but then again when do I not when it is you Frieda? This is such a wonderfully poetic summation of what goes on in our crazy heads, all hopped up on creativity and borderline (or over the line) insanity. Loved the jackrabbit line, you definitely got a chortle out of me.

Just having some poetic fun Trace, thanks so much...
We don't really want a cure though, do we. Without the release of my scribblings I think I would go mad. I cannot imagine what it must be like never to have put pen to paper, whatever the final outcome.

No of course not, then I'd really be insane, thanks Beccy....
No there is not. It's like preventing tooth decay, there is no antibiotic one can take to kill off the bacteria. Just preventive maintenance and I think that's what your poem does here. Once you have it, you can only express it.

Good analogy, tooth decay might be more worrisome, but poetry is far more frustrating at times...
