Life in the Lines

Life in the Lines

A Poem by gabiaimee

Now that I have written you down,
more permanent than a needle-drawn tattoo,
they will know you from words by print and mouth.
For generations, the world will read of you.

The hurt is in the words and your life's in the lines.
You're the person in my prose and the story in my song.
You're the love in my lyrics, and now that you're mine,
I can say that there are things that I've known all along.

You belong in a book and in works of art
and in movies and paintings and songs.
I love your blue eyes, your smile, your heart.
I knew you'd be something. I knew all along.
