Storm Surge

Storm Surge

A Poem by gabiaimee
"

Storm Surge

"

I embrace the inescapable storm without hesitation

my laughter echoes across plains like the rumble of thunder

I rejoice in the rain

dive naked in the puddles

sip the storm surge like something might satisfy my thirst

but you weren’t prepared for the flow of the floodwaters

you reached out to me and cried as they watered down your soul

can’t you see?

it’s drowning me too

I have nothing left to protect you
