The fog snuck into Santa Cruz

shortly before six,

(or six past five?)

since falling back on Sunday.

Soggy, foggy farmland

spots the faded hills

behind us.

Before us,

an ocean surface shines for miles

beneath a sunny shoreline

on noon beaches.
