Drowning Deep

Drowning Deep

A Poem by Gaurav Walia
"

The first part of the poem that questions the lovers about the promises they made. Are these promises still alive or did they get burnt in a temporary phase?

"
DROWNING DEEP

Do you know what’s within?

Or do you walk with a broken torch?

Are you still dreaming?

Do you think everything- you’re going to botch?

I’ll find my way through,

But will you be there waiting for me?

Not feeling myself today,

But surely be back in the swim of things one day…

Do you still remember- how we used to get ourselves rolling in the aisles together?

I have those pictures in my head…

I was a crushed paper once,

But with you today,

I am ready to take bullets from a thousand guns…

The ones who hurt you,

I’d shoot them to hell,

Those bloody fools!

Does my face still remind you of the promises we made?

They were not lies,

I guess now you prefer running away,

And break those sacred ties…

It’s okay! You can go,

I won’t stop; no I won’t,

Even if I die of a broken heart,

I don’t expect you; no I don’t…

Can’t feel the tickle of your lips no more,

I keep telling myself- you’re still there,

But I just don’t see you anymore…

Crooning of a heart broken mercilessly. I have my own share of heartbreaks so I was able to relate to every line. We probably love the idea of love rather than allowing love to happen and take us away.
That is probably why most of the times what we consider love does not last. It has to be eternal bliss or just a permanent pain in heart.

Lost affections that linger like ghosts....remind us of our human conditions.
Many pages yet to turn...but we still feel the need to re-read the old ones.
Enjoyed it.
