Thunder and Lightning
by GlamGirl's 9 year old sister

My mom and dad left for work. As the door shut, I heard thunder rumble in the distance. A streak of lightning flashed through our house. Everything turned off. I got out a flashlight. I had no one to play a game with or to talk to.

I stared out the window and watched the rain drizzle down. Then another lightning bolt struck. A woman appeared out of nowhere. When the thunder stopped, she disappeared.

I went outside to try and find this woman. Then a bolt hit right next to me. The woman appeared and grabbed me. I disappeared for good.

Weather Family

by GlamGirl

Sunlight.

The grandmother of the weather family.

Gently basking everyone and everything

in a cheery glow.

Clouds.

The grumpy old grandpa.

Hiding the beauty of his wife

from the rest of the world.

Boom!

Thunder, their son.

The noise exploding

through the still air.

Crash!

Thunder’s wife, Lightning.

A streak of electric sunlight

in the dark night.

Drip drop.

Their child, Rain.

A harmless sprinkling,

morphing into a full out storm.

I watched the family interacting

from the privacy of my bedroom window.

I will never see a storm in the same way

ever again.

Author's Note

GlamGirl
There was a thunder storm at our house recently. My little sister and I had a 'writing meeting' where we each wrote something about thunder and lightning.

She begged me to post her story on here so she could get her own reviews. So, please include a review for her story separate from the review for my poem.
And remember, she's only nine!
Thank you ahead of time, she really appreciates it.

I like this poem. Each person in our life are different. Each one create peace or war in their own way. I enjoyed this poem. My family poetry would be the same. Few of us think the same. Thank you for the outstanding poetry.

I loved them both. Your sister can write better than I could when I was nine, and THAT's saying something! Both wonderful writes. Thanks for sharing. :)
