Float “Child like”

A grand event

All kith n kin gathered

A birth day celebration

Of the youngest in the family

Invitees were mostly children

Some more time to wait

For singing chorus

“Happy birth day to you”

I watched them all

A state of restlessness

A great rush for movement

A desire to experience all

Wanting to have some fun

Called them to attention

Inviting them for a play

With a reward a dollar each

All I wanted from them

“Just sit in silence”

A minute not more

N win that dollar

A dozen heads

Sitting in silence

My eyes on clock

Seconds tick away

10... 15... 20 n 25...

Unable to sit, one, then another

Yet another, jumped out

45 on clock none on floor

Watch children!

Bubbling with energy

N simply living

Enjoying every moment

Child’s nature

Inattentive n unfocussed

Hopping from thoughts

One after another

A child is let free

Parents aren’t around

They are in fact break

Free flow of mind

Every one’s struggle

Is to reach back

This pure child mind

Unpolluted n beyond conscious

... plain and simple in tune with Nature and circumstance; spontaneous joy and veritable action neither attracted 'nor repelled, neither future beckoned 'nor past compelled, with a Heart full of juice and a mind like fire, taking us higher and higher ... a wondrous write of a beautiful observation, Pal

Wow, great poem. You take me back to that simpler and easier time with your flowing prose. I think you pretty much nailed the mindset. I think I may go to one of my co-workers kids birthday parties that I usually avoid. Thanks for the inspired poem.

PS I looked at a few of your Russian poems. Although, it is impressive that you know that language and the Cyrillic looks very cool, maybe you can offer some English translations for the less gifted of us?

I doubt I would have been able to sit still for 60 seconds for a dollar back when I was a kid. Heck, I probably couldn't do it now.

I like the way this poem reminds us of the almost uncontainable energy of youth. Now my container has a little bit of a leak to it.

This was a very interesting read. Seems some of these thoughts are a little complex for a child, but I think I must have missed the point. If this is through the eyes of an adult feeling child-like this was very good.

I think that we do return to that mind frame. We leave the womb as a child and grow, for many years we are free to care for ourselfs and than we start to regress. We return to our point of origen, we become a child once again. We loose all that we learned and become like children once again...
Lifes sad in a way...
One!

Children represent our hopes and dreams and through the innocence of child, we can learn and grow...that is if we only would pay more attention to who the real teachers are.
