A Poem by Gracynn
"

Let your mind wander into the land of unrealistic thoughts.

"
Small goosebumps appeared and clung to her skin,
Quiet darkness around her came not from within.
Haunting footsteps heard closely from behind,
The little hope left quickly fled her fearful mind.
Turing back to only see what she thought,
An erie figure followed, for her had it sought.
Faster she went, breaking into a run,
Chase was a game; the shadow having cruel fun.
The street lamp ahead was the only light,
Barely seen through the thick fog in the starless night.
To the side of the road, a mysterious wood,
Creatures howled, ravens shrieked where the reaching trees stood.
Their branches grasp, ripping at her clothes,
Stumbling she fell; her breath caught and froze.
Warm blood oozed, dripping slowly from bare knees,
The street deserted, no one to hear distant pleas.
Mother asleep in their house, quaint and fair,
The shadow breathed on her neck, raising on end hair.
Racing up the steps, she grabbed for the door,
Peered out the window to see the shadow before.
But nothing was there not a thing in sight,
What really followed her on that dark, foggy night?

Human mind manipulated with ease,
Thinking someone followed; instead it is a breeze.
Frightening ideas lead innocent astray,
To things that do not happen day to day.
The faint footsteps just great imaginations.
Curious thoughts create interesting formations.
