She's The Girl That

She's The Girl That

A Poem by Cecilia
"

Two.

"

She's that girl that knows information that no one would care for,
On the new hundred dollar bill the time on the clock tower of Independence Hall is 4:10.
The surface area of an average-sized brick is 79 cm squared.
The numbers on opposite sides of a die always add up to 7.
But she cherishes it.
Every little everything has some value when you look hard enough
Everything is beautiful if you look hard enough.
Everything is ugly if you look hard enough.

She's that girl that lives in the past and writes letters to her friends from second grade,
Leaving them under her pillow thinking that maybe,
If she believes hard enough the letter will get to her friend,
That her friend will forgive her for missing her play that day,
Even though it wasn't her fault.
She would explain that mommy took her away from daddy,
In that hour she was ripped away from everything she knew,
Living in a new city, a new school, a new home.

She's that girl that's way too forgiving,
“Oh, It's okay! It was an accident!”
Over and over and over again.
And over.
But how many times  can something happen before it's no longer  an accident.
Everyday for years now, she forgives her mother.
How could she not,
Her mother never lies to her.
Her mother never hits her.
Her mother never isolates her.

She's that girl that when she's in love,
She'll write that certain man a letter a day.
She'll never ever let him think she's forgotten him,
Like they've forgotten her.
And, oh, have they forgotten her.
She'll make sure he knows,
She loves him,
With all her heart.

She's that girl that's always crying alone,
She "said the wrong thing"
She's positive.
She didn't.
She didn't know before what she knows now,
And she hates herself for it.
Hate hate hate.
She'll never forgive herself.

She's that girl that loves writing everything out,
As much as she loves computers,
Keyboards are just a waste.
She fondles the idea of being able to write something out,
Dot the "i"'s and cross her "t"'s.
Write out every number,
It's twenty-two,
Not 22.

She's that girl that's so predictable.
Her favorite number is two.
If you know her,
The reason is so obvious.
Two is a pair
Two can keep one company.
You can't have love with one.
You can't.
Two.
Two
Two.

okay have we like ever met because this sounds so like me in this poem. Seriously it is very sad but has a nice flow that doesn't seem to hit any road bumps as one reads down it's lines. Each line seems to have a purpose without being too in your face. I liked it.
