Fireside Winter

She held me
in warm hands
the same way

French toast
holds butter

Leaves outside
trembled and

Maple ran
to ground
in October

in South Dakota

Absolutely lovely; sent a warm, kept safe feeling all through me; and I just loved the french toast reference, so unique and original.

I have to say, the metaphor between your lover's arms and the French toast has to be one of the loveliest things I've laid my eyes on all week. Truly a well written piece, I enjoyed the read.

I loved the french toast reference - does anything say home like toast?

This little snippet left me smiling. I like the juxtaposition between warmth and coldness. It created a cozy scene in the center of a barren winter field. It must hard to live in South Dakota! I love anything Maple, so you had me there. Nice. Angi~

It was my pleasure.
I remember my own mySpace days very well... It was THE place to be and so many, many talented people - artists of every endeavor, skill level, and sort. And they sold us out and tried to take away what made us and it - unique. Cookie-cutesy-clutter-cutter and transparent avarice...sigh - sorry, I'll stay off the soapbox, but it was FUN and dear - while it lasted.

The heart and memories you shared in this one make my eyes glisten with my own memories... good way for a coffee moment to be spent.
