Black Sea

The Black Sea

Floods wash over blood sands
Breakers defy stone dams
Heights strive to contain our lands
Fighting moon's pulsating hands

Her hands forever unfolding
birthing waves mesmerizing
fertile dark ground holding
key of life's ever molding

in the unburied's dwelling,
sounding timeless echoes,
obstructed secrets wailing
within pending throes.

God is weeping as He sees
Man created to live in light
sinks below light's decrees
making choices founded on night

Pontus Exinus crossings meet
gold calved nations with sulfuric streets
worms suffocate in our Devil's dark seat
anoxic, pro-toxic, sheep's bleating replete

weeping in agony well worth the pain
hoping the truth all Men regain
knowing as well things will remain
a battle well worn over each domain
E. with Zahra and advice from M

-- for me, the fourth stanza is where the soul of these beautiful symphony resides... -- in everything, we (as in us human beings) do have a special talent for wrong choices... -- most of the problems in the world today and most of the problems in our personal lives can be attributed to bad decisions... -- but still... sometimes we are able to transcend our human limitations and "regain" our lost momentum and thrive... -- i thank the three musicians who played a role in crafting this piece... -- it has depth, it has intensity, and it is very giving -- much like the black sea...

Wow! A splendid collaboration. An important and very strategic sea. Aways wondered why they call it black. Lots of countries border it. Very good location for lots of things. A good rhyming poem to celebrate it.

Wow! You are welcome sir Einstein.
This is an amazing collaboration using mostly a monorhyme (that I love to use myself) so it really harkens to my sense of having fun while reading your poem. The dramatic wordplay conveys so much with vivid imagery & the intensity of your descriptions grow more bizarre & thought-provoking as the poem reaches the end. This is the height of original expression! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I am so glad I found these splendid words Gene and true... Here I am this evening having just arrived back at my own little bit of Bulgarian paradise but having spent the last three days & nights at the Hotel Atol on the Black Sea Coast which I so love and from where I once drove across the border into Edirne Turkey.... But, I digress and must apologise... A great bit o writing we got here and a smashing folk tune to compliment your fine words..... All Good Things, Neville

I find so many diverse elements in this. From Sci Fi to dark romance. From ecological to war. It is crammed in the best possible way with all these thought provoking concepts.

The final line: "a battle well worn over each domain" is incredibly potent. The entire structure and story transcends beliefs. These are universal moments. Thank you for sharing this.

it was beautiful, and haunting. We do not know what we do? When we make mistakes, but we do not admit we have errored in this story. We shoul want the reader to realize what we have done there. We are perfect, or so we claim to be. But we know we are not.
