closing locked doors with

secrets bounding off papered walls

 

sound proof

ostentation not allowed but

its a comfortable space

like cozy jackets

mirror of sponges.

self absorbing timbers for

moots long imprisoned 

nine inch grey and steel

prisms of pride

secret service protected

more iron clad dowries

password redundancy 

stuck                           

like Walmart greetings

tap tap his cigarettes 

he packs tight and

lights it 

to lip

no one is looking

now why haven't I thought of writing about it? not in a poem though. you did that pretty well.
people won't openly talk about it but it certainly is the favoured retreat of many. mine at any rate. that's where I make important decisions like getting married or deciding to have kids.

Hmmmmn... still thinking about this one! The smoking bit reads obvious enough, the hiding a terrible secret maybe.. banned substance... or... is that just a veil for something more.. let's say, physical. Nuff said. I rather think you've used humour to camouflage your own unspoken and quite vivid thoughts. Love the gentle humour, the gentle nudging into places in your read'ers minds!

For most folk, the bathroom is a place of refuge... and refuge, isn't it?!

ahahaha ..yes f**s ..well used term and understood by all for what it meant ..waaaaaay back when ..packs were rolled in t shirt sleeves and one snapped open those Zippos ..not just open them .. so appreciate your visits Paloma! i think the biffy is a universally sacred place ... where everything is secret ... thanks again for taking time here ..

Yeah Bathrooms can be very comfortable place to think, sing, smoke (i dont but manys do) . You feel like you are so away from everyone else and yeah NO one is looking, thats what make you be yourself . Lol is the only place where no one looks at ? i dont know but i do think so.
That was very good peice of work. I enjoyed the read an the thoughts you gave me:)

First off, bravo. Quite the funny, and endearing tale. Light the cigarette, some light reading -- I never understood such practices, but had an ex who spent way too much time in there. And let's just say, it was a relief that he smoked.:)

My father (who quit smoking) uses the bathroom an awful lot now.
He also brushes his teeth an awful lot now too.
He loves the fresh air too because he always opens the window in there.
He's very thoughtful that way. :)
