God Took You

there is grace in words

God took you

God took you from this earth

I said no there’s always tomorrow

But this time, today was all we had

God took you and gave you wings

You were kind

You were loved

You were the only one who held us together

With you gone we fly with the four winds

Lost to all but our selves

We all stood alone as darkness moved towards us

God took you and gave a halo

The thoughts of what I could have said weigh on my mind

Please oh, please God let my words reach her ears

God please let my love reach her heart

God took you and gave you true grace

The memories are all I have now

They are all, we all have

You will not be forgotten

You will not be lost

God took you and made you an angel

God gave you a chance to be with the one you’ve lost

God took your body

God took your soul

But god will never take the love of all those left on this earth

this is the first poem i've ever written so please be nice

I like the strong feeling of love you incorporate in this poem. Whenever people die, they do not know how much loss they create to the person who love them. Only then will they realize when the latter will join them in heaven. I really like this writing. It's more like a love song to me. Keep writing!

I like the idea that yes there is always an end to things, no matter how much we might want them to last, but despite that end, there's still something left behind. I think you've captured quite nicely the feelings that everyone experiences when they lose someone they loved. There are some little issues with flow here and there, but overall, it's quite a touching poem.
