I Stomp My Feet. I Am A Giraffe.

I Stomp My Feet. I Am A Giraffe.

A Poem by Rufio The Jedi

The giraffe bends his neck into the sky

And sips coffee from the clouds

His yawn floats a 747 a little higher

While the pilot announces

Unexpected turbulence

The pandas in the back of the plane

Think the gorillas stink

The gorillas

Don’t

Really

Care

They’re sipping premium mango juice

As they rest their feet on the gooses

The plane heaves a cough

The passengers buckle their seatbelts

The giraffe closes his window

And reluctantly falls asleep

Again nice job man. Personification usually always works.

Gentle and playful, but with just the least little bit of an edge around the fringes. Highly visual and nicely paced, and, all in all, utterly charming.

How entertaining! You've got a great imagination, Jamaal.

Wow this is an amazing poem!! It really makes me think of Rudyard Kipling's "Just So Stories for Children"; more specifically "The Elephant's Child" where there turns out to be quite a moral to the story! You should read it even though it was written for children, it cannot harm to, on the contrary...
Your poem truly is an interesting read, very endearing, very bizarre in a way which makes all the more attractive and out of the ordinary poems that we get...You have written it very well, to add to my praises of it! In a sense one could say very strong imagination in this poem! Imagery is excellent and just the simple story is great!! Superbly written Jamaal Rashad! Superb!
