Tonight

Tonight

A Poem by Hailey Juliet
"

60.7212° N, 135.0568° W

"
tonight i watched the northern lights
and for just a bit it was all bright
i forgot what it's like to see
in black and white
i forgot how it feels to be
only half my height
i forgot the duality
of alive and dead
i forgot my life
under green and red

i forgot the sensation
of sand through my toes
i forgot the frustration
of my walking woes
i forgot to be afraid
i forgot to care
what people think or say,
anyway . . .
tonight i watched the northern lights
and for just a bit i felt all right.

I wrote this a little over a month ago about an experience. Not sure how I feel about this piece. I don't know, maybe it's a little on the nose.

Gee
Have just read this after seeing your latest pics posted, so makes a lot more sense to me than if I had read without seeing them.
Sometimes we need distractions to take us away from the "everyday" even if these distractions be fleeting.
Good morning Hailey

Maybe this is an experience of a total surrender when no one exists except total peace. Great write :)

My pleasure.

I look forward to reading your thoughts on mine,
Quite like this! Not only do the words seemingly flow and slip right off the tongue, I feel as if you've took me right into the middle of this experience as well and blanketed me in a sense of wonder but also comfort. Also, brings on the ambience of one of my favorite St. Vincent songs "Northern Lights". Very lovely piece.

I really enjoy this poem. You convey a strong sense of fitting into a time and a place seemingly perfect which many may describe as a feeling of comfort or maybe even belonging. It reminds me of nights I've spent watching the stars from campsites, I never feel so small yet I never feel so whole, it's a difficult feeling or memory to evoke yet this poem brings me there. The more I read your writing the more I appreciate your style. As always, your poem has great flow with excellent word choice leaving an impression upon the reader. Thanks for sharing!
