Tonight

Tonight

A Poem by Hailey Juliet
"

"
tonight i watched the northern lights
and for just a bit it was all bright
i forgot what it's like to see
in black and white
i forgot how it feels to be
only half my height
i forgot the duality
of alive and dead
i forgot my life
under green and red

i forgot the sensation
of sand through my toes
i forgot the frustration
of my walking woes
i forgot to be afraid
i forgot to care
what people think or say,
anyway . . .
tonight i watched the northern lights
and for just a bit i felt all right.

I wrote this a little over a month ago about an experience. Not sure how I feel about this piece. I don't know, maybe it's a little on the nose.

I really enjoy this poem. You convey a strong sense of fitting into a time and a place seemingly perfect which many may describe as a feeling of comfort or maybe even belonging. It reminds me of nights I've spent watching the stars from campsites, I never feel so small yet I never feel so whole, it's a difficult feeling or memory to evoke yet this poem brings me there. The more I read your writing the more I appreciate your style. As always, your poem has great flow with excellent word choice leaving an impression upon the reader. Thanks for sharing!
