A Chapter by Hailey Juliet

. . .

. . .

something like a harmony,
or at least something between
polyphony and polygamy,
did you call it trust?
i must have been imagining

something like the sound of
your voice amongst the
cacophony of poetry,
philosphy, and fantasy
fluttering through my mind

in scychopated, twitterpated
mumblings, tumbling head over
wheels, face first into your
disonant words falling flat
or was it sharp? like

that needle and thread
i may or may not have used
trying to stitch myself
back together; trying
to fill the void

between my ears with songs
or maybe it was just noise,
in any case, i was enamoured
with how you carried yourself
through those melodies. poise.

or poison, if we're past
the pretention of swooning strings
and brass shots, while the wood-
winds carry the tune past a
groaning cello and timid timpanist

. . .

Excellent wordplay with sounds! There's a casual rhythm that makes this feel rap-like (for lack of a better way to describe it). Strong use of words that suggest musical or rhythmic sounds & ideas thru-out, which I really enjoy. Very creative musical muse you have! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
