"

A poem by Anasteja Carew

"
a phantom's starving heart; eternal allegiance flawed with seclusion

unsuspecting carcass left devoured

fabrication cloaked with morality; nothing more than apologies

to yourself

agonizing desire grasping for alleviation

a new day shines

yet we cling to our illusions

living each day in wonder

turn our back on possibilities

the door is closing

"a phantom's starving heart; eternal allegiance flawed with seclusion"

Unbelievable opening line, attracted my full attention immediately! Your word usage is always incredible and I can't wait to read the next one!

hey, i like this! really strong word choice, very deliberate message. i specifically enjoyed the first three lines--what's dead is alive and what's alive is dead, to some, and what's real can be empty and the imaginary so, so full...that's what the imagery you've created said to me. good write!
