Deserts' Secret

Deserts' Secret

A Poem by hannah katherine gan

I
Hot sun boiling
feeling sweat drip from bodies
sun heating your skin

II
eyes looking outward
breathing dry air in my lungs
taking in the view

III
Watching the dust rise
exhaling the heat I speak
words of gratitude

IV
Whisper to the flame
I say thank you for the heat
for absence no life

V
With cold air comes death
the cold is unforgiving
sun can boil on

VI
For flames give me life
so I will survive with heat
and live among light

VII
Sun crackle my skin
the dry heat will withdraw sweat
I give only thanks

VIII
Hot sun boil on
And know your beauty and worth
For you supply life
