A Thousand Tiny Little Things

A Thousand Tiny Little Things

A Poem by New Dawn

A thousand tiny little things

have settled on your mind,

each no bigger than the

smallest of molecules

and yet how they weigh...

weigh so heavily,

they have dragged you

to the murky depths,

and entangled your heart.

A thousand tiny little things

have attached themselves

'barnacles of the soul.'

Let us wash them off

one by one,

set them adrift and watch them

disintegrate into nothingness.

Only then might you be free

to kick your legs

and break the surface

and breathe the precious air

once more.

The picture you chose and the entire poem capture so well how many little things can work together to weigh our spirits and souls down. Beautifully written.

'barnacles of the soul.' wonderful image

So true!
yes, sinking under the slow accumulation of 'a thousand little things'; and yes, cleansing 'one by one' is how we lighten to break the surface again, this time in gratitude...again, well done, and made of kindly and deeper thoughts

~ brilliant imagery... take them out like splinters... one by one... nurse each wound as a mother would nurse an infant... heal all injuries... it may take time... but i do think we all have the ability to be patient... even if it's tough...

I was speaking of the visual you wrote of ( :
Excellent. Love it. What a perfect way to describe how the littlest of things can weigh us down, both physically and mentally.

It is indeed. keep washing them off :-)
this is truly marvelous in the way that it speaks of issues in the metaphorical sense
while the gist of the message is in your face and yet elusive, lovely
