as you walked away,

too weak and 'female'

to stand my ground?

Did you think I might beg

for you to stay,

too afraid, too fragile

to cope alone?

Well the truth is

I might have,

but you walked away

too briskly without looking back,

and the words 'I need you'

got caught in my throat

afraid you might hear me

turn and laugh.

Did you think I might struggle?

You wouldn't be wrong

but I'm slowly rebuilding...

I am strong...
