War At Home

War At Home

A Poem by Will B.

Watching my brothers as they die away,

every one of them will die some day.

killed in action ain’t their plan,

but to die as basketball’s greatest fan.

its a war out there, it is said,

Brothers at home fight till dead.

I tell you, my son, as you go away,

When in danger, at home you will stay.

If you run away from the gang,

the last noise you hear will be a bang.

I lived this long because of advice,

that my father gave, to be precise.

Because of that, I have you,

and a chance this day to start anew.

When you leave this house you will find,

several men chasing you from behind.

They chase you not for your money,

they hunt you not for your honey.

Keep an eye out for your brothers,

as you dress each day, watch your colors.
