Kothu Parotta

Kothu Parotta

A Poem by harrie22
"

Kothu parotta (literally, minced parotta) is a delicacy popular in Chennai ,the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is made using parotta, egg, meat, and a spicy sauce.

"

From carbon black to crimson red

As charcoal turns, atoms bunch

In the iron bed, sizzles on a splash

Ready for a bash.

Onions losing moisture

Pulls off a brown texture.

There comes squeezing in -

Tomato, ripe on time.

Oh, the spices,

The color and flavor

Sparkles with green "

Curry, coriander and cumin.

And one by one, goes

The lay from hen.

The art of culinary

Is to let them play and watch.

Time ago, a heap of flour

Greased with oil

Bound and eased

Stays all night

Worked up on yeast

Flattened and arranged

Flipped until browned

Comes into play

Hand torn on its way

Here comes the carnival

Singing to the beats

Heard far into the streets

Leaving trails to cravings.

Spearing through the mix

The meal is up for a fix.

On the platter

There’s all you need

Mixed and fixed

With a gravy twist
