Grass Music

Grass Music

A Poem by Travis Lawrence

Northern California gospel

shows play with twin fiddle grass music,

turned around on their religion,

outside of dawn on a highway one,

I swerve around the visceral cliff sides

into deeper ocean blues, shade for darker weary eyes.

Alone down deep

is a better way to light fire on dying weight,

the smoke brings me up to the sound when I read,

watching the marks to calm me down.
