Poem 27. THERE'S SOMETHING YOU SHOULD KNOW

A Chapter by Daisie Vergara (Dhaye)

Many nights I thought of you

Another day was another misery

Remembering the past

You and I as friends

And it kept on haunting me.

Never did I forget your kindness.

Never did I lose your image in my mind.

Every second I prayed that

Memories would last forever.

But the chance has made its way

To wake me up from this dream.

Unbelievable, isn’t it? In that never-never land, I

Thought that I could have a true friend.

                            ***

There’s something you should know:

You gave me that lesson I can’t forget-

That in that never-never land, everything was just

A part of a dream

And you were just a part of it.

Now, I am widely awake...

Immortalizing the friendship.
An amazing tribute to a friend.

The last two lines of the first stanza made me (your reader) think the reasons why the poetic persona had to leave his/her friend, and later on regret the act done.
It is good though, that the poet did not make clarity on it leaving the reader pondering.

I had a good read, Teacher. Thank you for sharing.
