Poem 45. A STUDENT'S CROSS

Poem 45. A STUDENT'S CROSS

A Chapter by Daisie Vergara (Dhaye)
"

the real test?

"

He wakes up earlier this morning
For he has something to do.
He kneels and thanks God
For he's still there, alive
Asking for His guidance.

And like what he's always done
He picks up all his things.
His notes which are always beside him
He studies and reviews
With a wish on his mind.

The seconds run, then minutes
And when he stops, it's hours.
He decides to cook his meal
Since it's already time
To do things for himself.

Thirty minutes to go before the time
Of his first class
He has to be ready
For they will be given
An examination today.

He sits on the very front seat
And waits for the start.
His classmates come and then his teacher
And then he again prays
To get a passing score.

Then the examination begins
He prepares
And nothing flashes in his mind.
He tries to write something
But his ball pen seems inkles.

The examination time is over
But his mind is still blank
A deep fear and doubt
Of what will be the result.
Overwhelms...

I could feel the struggle in the poem. I believe the education system is wrong in the USA. Treat every kid the same. It doesn't work. Every kid is different. Each needing more or less. The poem open the door to a long conversation. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
