Poem 50. On My Own

Poem 50. On My Own

A Chapter by Daisie Vergara (Dhaye)
"

I can do it

"

On my own, I will stand firm
Like the bamboo which sways
In every blow of the harsh wind
But it won't fall, it'll stay.

On my own, I'll be a lighthouse
Strategically facing the coast
To guard and warn the sailors
Of this sea of life, in my utmost...

                     I'll do everything I can
Those songs you deprived of me to hear
Which make me deaf all the time
And made me alone in the middle of your laughter.

On my own, I'll be the best painter
To paint my life with those colors
Which will make me alive,
Gleeful, and superior.

On my own, I can do it
With my faith as my defense
My family as my gifts,
My skills, my voice, and  my talents.

I can do it without you
       And your fraudulent words
Which only give me false hopes
That in this world there's a true flower without thorns.
