UNWRAPPING YOUR GIFTS (Rhyme)

A Chapter by Daisie Vergara (Dhaye)

My review comment to a piece in the other site

Understand that there's more important than physical
Learn to appreciate what you have at hand
Isn't it so childish and critical
That you're marching with the wrong band?

Beauty isn't seen from the facade
But viewed from the heart where love resides
You have your talent, don't make it bad
Just learn to seek it deep inside...

Author's Note

Daisie Vergara (Dhaye)
A piece (in the other site) reminds me of my past - when insecurities almost cover my whole body, from top to toe. I never been happy then. I always ask "Why" and "How"- those endless questions. But when I have realized I will die with my insecurities chocking me, I decided to change.

Not pretty/ Being chubby? ----I disciplined myself by having proper diet and exercise. Now, I'm more confident to wear dresses.

Not so intelligent? --- Well, everyone do aspire to be on top. But there will never ever be a "big throne" to accommodate more than one "king". So, expect less, and then if you're included on top 10, why don't you celebrate?

Not talented/skilled? ---Hmmnn. That's a big mistake. Everyone of us was given this "gift', we just have to unwrap it. If you know something even a little, develop it, improve, until you see yourself making full of it with confidence.

***********

Rhyme. A rhyming poem has the repetition of the same or similar sounds of two or more words, often at the end of the line.

I read from a book which quoted a bible verse (i forgot the exact bible verse) that women should be known for the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious to God.
I can relate well with this piece including to your comment. i am constantly "battling" with weight issues because people keep on telling me that i got big. i tried my best to get back to my former shape (meaning my shape when i was in highschool, which is impossible to attain these days. LOL). But some people would just always see and highlight the flaws they see in us. Now, i am trying to attain a realistic shape because i want to and not because of others. But what is more important to develop, as what you mentioned in this piece, is to be beautiful inside.

The beauty of our hands lies not on its smoothness or the colorful the manicure but on the ability to extend help to others. The beauty of our eyes lies not on our mascara but its ability to see the needs of others and act on it. The beauty of our lips lies not on the red or cherry lipstick but on the kindness of words that are coming from it. The beauty of our legs lies not on its well-toned shape but on its ability to walk a mile for anyone who needs some help.

This piece just gave me different reflections. Thank you for sharing.

I learn a long time ago. Need to look beyond beauty and perfection. Real beauty is hidden for the lucky we allow in. There is great wisdom in your words and thoughts. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
