Poem 22. SET ME FREE

Poem 22. SET ME FREE

A Chapter by Daisie Vergara (Dhaye)
"

Inspired by the song "Set Me Free" by Casting Crowns

"

I've been crying for so long
With this aching and somber song
Oh, why did you come along
Just to prove me I am wrong?

I've been trying to heal my scars
Those bruises I've gotten through the wars
The things I want, they're like the stars
The people I like, they're just too harsh.

I've been waiting for the time
That my tune would fit your rhyme
I've been thinking if a mime
Could be enough to show what's mine?

Set me free from these aching chain
You are the light, don't trap me in vain
Take away my tears and pain
Once again, heal me with your rain...

I enjoyed this poem so much that I decided to make a song of it. It inspired me to wrote this gift song-poem for you to keep as your own. Some of your original lines are in it. It has seven syllable 1/0/1/0/1/0/1 meter where “1” is accented and “0” is not accented. Sing along with the bouncing ball:

Melancholy Song

I’ve been singing all yearlong
this cold melancholy song.
You should not have come on strong
knowing that we don’t belong.

As I try to heal my scars,
all those heavyhearted mars,
I’m still looking towards the stars
over rubble and burnt chars.

I’ve been waiting all this time
for a tune to fit your rhyme.
I’ve been looking for that chime
that would truly make you mine.

Please release me from this chain;
shine your light through clouds and rain:
wipe my tears so I remain
once again in your domain.

Freedom such a big word. We seek freedom from those who chained us but what if we were the ones who caused ourselves to be chained? I love the song =)

Just when you think your scars are healing someone comes along and rips them apart again. Beautifully written and deeply heartfelt. Love this

There are strong rhymes in this that make this bounce along like a song, just needs some chords now :-)

I like the poem. I like the desire to be set free from memory.
"Set me free from these aching chain
You are the light, don't trap me in vain
Take away my tears and pain
Once again, heal me with your rain..."
Would be nice if a warm rain could erase our pain. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.

Casting Crowns is my wife's favorite group. I loved the line 'I've been waiting for the time
That my tune would fit your rhyme'. I think a lot of us do that, and some of us never think to change the tune, rather we expect Him to change the rhyme. Beautiful poem.
