FACING THE DAWN (Free Verse)

FACING THE DAWN (Free Verse)

A Chapter by Daisie Vergara (Dhaye)
"

The night never stay forever...

"

There's a promise
A fulfillment of my once biggest dream
To find you
To be with you
Among the many faces I've seen
You stood right there
Wearing the smile
That only I could see

You held my hand
And guided me
Into the dark alley
And I never felt any fear
Because you're there

I slept
While you were watching me
Like an angel by my side
Protecting me from harm
Assuring nothing
Would steal my comfort

And when I woke up
It's no longer dark in my room
The night has ended
And I have to face the new day
It's the first light I saw
When I glanced at my window

I'm facing the dawn
With you here by my side

I'm not afraid anymore...

A very touching poem, that reminded me, for some reason of the 23rd Psalm. Perhaps there is a good reason for that. I hope that the hope and peace in this poem is a reality in your life on this Valentine's Day, Dhaye. A close friend is something very marvelous and I hope you always face your dawns, and midnights, together.

Touching, beautiful, warm, light, loving, I sense your friend is a metaphor, for it seems he gets very little sleep, no doubt reflected in the window of you life

Thank you for dropping by!
Nothing last forever including the dark… figuratively and literally… There is a wonderful spirituality about this poem I admire.

You wrote from the heart, Ate. Your best friend would surely be honored to know this is dedicated to her.

Very sweet poem to your friend Dahye. I've changed my avatar and display name (stargazer). Haven't seen you around much. Everything ok? Not getting any RR from you. Miss you.

These lines:

I slept
"While you were watching me
Like an angel by my side
Protecting me from harm
Assuring nothing
Would steal my comfort"

reminded me of an old song "someone to watch over me", a song my mom used to hum. Touching piece, Dhaye.
