My Son's Father

My Son's Father

A Poem by heido
"

Sarah of Abraham and her son Isaac and God.

"

A child promised into the hands of Abraham

The surrender of male fertility

Giving to God all that is man

Patience aquired with youthful splendor

A patient and quiet devotion

I love of this man

His simple nature a calm stream

Amidst the hot sand beneath my feet

I can never imagine being so grounded

So full with faith and love

How can he offer our only son

I want to kneel at his feet

How can he make a begger of his wife

I am learning humility

Just as I learn resentment

Isaac's trust misplaced

Oh please Father

Have we not given enough

Has Abraham not trusted enough

If his faith will not waiver mine must

And as tears turn to nothing in hot sand

So too do the footprints of my son

I can not even cling to those

You give all and take of all

Who am I to be as a mother?

If I am first to honor my husband

Nurture my sons

And be obedient to God

Not sure if this will make sense.
I wanted to portray how I believe a mother would act as she his torn between the men in her life. God, Husband, Son.

Woman part has changed with time. Woman were the backbone of a family. Staying in the home. Insuring all possible comforts were available for her family. Today most of us must work. Children do a lot of things for them self. A beautiful poem. Remind me of old Poets. Kind and with reason.

An interesting look at the story of Abraham.
It really is insane how much faith old testament figures had to have with God.
Take Job for instance.
God took everything from him. And he was still faithful.
I don't know if there's anyone in the world with that much faith.
Anyway, great job on portraying her faith coming to question as she struggles to come to grips with giving up her son.
Great job

God does place a sort of mysterious strength in women. We must respect this inner strength. God promised Abraham a son, although it is the woman who must bear the pains of this promise.
