Creatures Of The Night

Creatures Of The Night

A Poem by Helen Woodward

Wonderful creatures of the night

Inspire me with

Thought provoking messages

Travelling on soft breezes

The cicada’s strength of song

Deafening, filling senses

With deliberation

Thank you

The owl’s haunting cry

Wisdom abounding from nowhere

It seems

Summer is almost here

And it carries hope in its wake

Warmth and tenderness

Balmy twilights

And blessed nights

Thank you

There is a fortune to be had

In my peaceful garden

A kingdom of willing servants

Carrying the gift of serenity

And the light of heaven

And I am happy

Thank you

Never take this privilege from me

Leave me your nightly presence

As I sit listening to creation

My heart is filled…renewed

At each encounter

And when the teardrops of angels

Fall gently on my shoulders

Perfect bliss is mine

Thank you.
