The Man

The Man

A Poem by Moomin
"

Thoughts of ending turn to hope

"

In the deep cold night, where no friend resides, and love is gone, and lovers hide

There I lay, in tortured mind, fast forward thoughts, and pain rewind

And breath is short, and sinew tight, and darkness swallows up all light

A thousand thoughts, like arrows fly, of sorrow, hurt, how and why?

And in those moments, of icy solitude, my heart is raw, my mind stripped nude

To contemplate the waste and pain, to dread recall the living game,

Where limbs obey and do what they must, but mind just stumbles blind and lost

I stagger under heavy blows and feel deep scars that never show

And that false friend, the sting of death, caresses mind and steals my breath

Invites me in to gaze upon, the solution of oblivion

And only a finger's touch away, is the end I've yearned for every day

But within the madness in my way, are images that still hold sway

We are the same, you and I, both heavy hearted, with heavy sigh

And sometimes when the pain's too strong, we contemplate not going on

The thought of Oblivion's cold kiss, seems the only chance of endless bliss

To be free of loneliness, free of fear, to never worry, to not be here

But I know a man, a gentle soul, who pleads with us not to take that road

He warned that death is not a friend, but an enemy, waiting round the bend

For If I lose my life, and break these heavy chains, I'd leave my loves in overwhelming pain

And they would wander on, with guilt and deep despair, wondering if they mattered, wishing they'd been there

If my bone was broken, or my flesh were open rent, I would gently bind and sooth it, and nurse it to it's mend

Yet life I deem less precious, and breath I do not count, and purpose for my blood to seek I ever seem to doubt

But the man said not to worry, to just get through today , He said it's going to be okay, one day

And He tells us that we're special, we are snow and fingerprint, and we are more than mind and flesh, each one unique and intricate

And the man said, focus on the most important things, love and friends and prayers we sing

on giving, helping, being true, and forgiving those who saddened you

So I Remember where I came from, and where I placed my dreams, the love I share with others, all the people in between

That I have been fulfilled, I have known it all, this joy, these loves, this wondrous world, these people I recall

To be in love with her, to hold my children's hands, to laugh with friends, to sing those songs, and glimpse the heavenly plan

And the man said we should think of these, the birds, the sky, the sun, the trees

I step outside and see the sun, and embrace the fresh winds when they come

I do not know what tomorrow holds, or where my life will be, but this darkness may fade, till another day and the sun will rise for me

My pain may diminish, my spirit may regain, and perhaps rekindle strength and gently fan the flame

So I will endure, I will fight back, and regain tortured soul, and whether grace, or resurrection, one day I will be whole

Because the man has made a promise, and He swears to me it's true, that life is going to change soon and it's good for me and you

And the man has never been wrong, He's never been wrong

And I trust Him, with all my heart
