Jingles

Jingles

A Poem by Andie

LOVE, Love, love

HATE, Hate, hate

Try to remember

Try to forget

empty colored marker words

construction paper correspondence

forbidden facebook friend requests

and a pink slip of abodance

M&Ms and cheddar corn puffs

pad me from the truth

that a certain Tracy Chapman song

makes me cry for you

Does the painted pony sob at night

afraid to be exposed?

'cause she hasn't sent a letter back

and it's not because she knows

smile, girly, smile

and I'll come back next may

we'll be secret buddies

doesn't matter what they say

this is wonderful, the verses glide effortlessly, the word choice rolls off the tongue, the simplicity on the outside of this poem cleverly disguises the complex, pained emotions that lie at its heart. the last four lines leave me speechless.

great work.
