A Little Bit Closer

A Little Bit Closer

A Poem by Aneshia

She's beauty encompassed in a plaid shirt
and a snapback.
It's strange; a mere kick-up from those tiny shoes
makes my heart go ba-bang-bam-bam
and that wide grin
makes me melt from the outside in.
She's beauty encompassed in a fix-me-up car,
drivin' 'round town with my love in the trunk,
and she cannot hear my cries for her
over the sound of Tegan and Sara on the radio,
but I can't be angry.
Because she is love.
And I am in love with her.

I really like the image that this poem puts out. The tone is not hopeful and not hopeless, per say, but more like wanting to be hopeful, if that makes any sense, and I think that's pretty cool.
