Bring Back Yesterday

Bring Back Yesterday

A Poem by Tony Hwilka
"

we all have been through this one time or another.

"

I sit, this night

dawn skies approaching

watching my home and you --

     embraced

unto other arms

no longer belonging to me

I sit, tearing eyes -- aching

     wishing

it was still

     yesterday

Remind me of one of my favorite songs:
Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away,
Now it looks as though they're here to stay,
Oh, I believe in yesterday...

Very short poem and yet holds a whole story within it. The ending is perfect.

Why she had to go I don't know, she wouldn't say.
I said something wrong, now I long for yesterday...

Penned with such wistfulness and longing. Painful to read and stirring
emotions that we can all remember having at some time.

Good job! I liked this very much.

Tony, a great poem. I can see why she'd select it as one of the winners. Aren't you happy you joined Writer's Cafe?

Oh.. so very lonely and sad. We all have made mistakes and sometimes an apology is too late. This is a wonderful write. But it makes me say, it is your life! For heaven's sake fight for it, unitl you know for sure it is really too late.

Great ink. Short and sweet. ;p
